Jason Greenhalgh (Q-Project) and Paul Smith (Spinback) first met in 1987 brought together through a mutual love of hip-hop music. Over the coming years, the pair developed a deep appreciation for Techno and Dance music at the start of its worldwide takeover. By 1991, Spinback was an established DJ, gracing the decks at events week in week out, including the world famous “Universe”. Q-Project entered the studio too, with his first release "Freestyle Fanatic".

Their first label, Legend Records was launched with Q-Project’s highly acclaimed "Champion Sound" in 1992. It took their profile to new heights, and it remains one of the most influential tunes of its time and generation this was swiftly followed by the start of their early recording career together under the name Funky Technicians ... and so the unstoppable collaboration had begun.

In 1997, the well-established pair launched the Computer Integrated Audio (C.I.A) label and the alias Total Science, was born. Over the coming years, Total Science had releases on all the major D&B labels including Metalheadz, Good Looking, Moving Shadow, Hospital, Tru Playaz, 31 Records (Doc Scott), Reinforced, Soul:r, Shogun Audio to name but a few, as well as releases under their own C.I.A. and various other imprints.

Total Science/ Q-Project have release 4 albums, however, the actual number of singles and EP’s the pair have released is currently an unknown quantity. Their relentless yearning to create music and dogged approach denotes there are just too many to mention!

As DJ’s Total Science have been touring globally for over a decade, regularly requested and in demand from the USA, Australia, New Zealand & Japan to the present day. They have a strong presence and dedicated following across the whole of Europe and in the UK, playing in all major regions and cities and regularly listed at top London venues.

In recent times Total Science have collaborated with a few select artists, most recognized is their work with Brazilian wonder kid S.P.Y. The pair became a threesome sharing ideas and studio space, and magic was made, the defining moments of this ultimate link-up being “Gangsta”, “Testimony (feat Riya ) ”, “Legion”, “Venus Prime”, and “Ghostrider”, & more recently on S.P.Y's second album "Back to Basics" which they were present on 4 tracks . Their ongoing collaboration with vocalist Riya (Laura Pacheco) over the years has resulted in many appearances and Top Ten status with tracks "Redlines" "Piano Funk" & "See Your Face" the title track from their 2013 EP on Shogun Audio . Other notable projects include the impressive, "Another Time" (featuring Grimm) on Spearhead Various output on Shogun Audio including "Positive Vibrations “, the massive "Scatter" from the Friction Verses series, two tracks on Riya's album for Spearhead (one of which Mixmag also premiered) and a Top 10 collaboration with Quadrant & Iris on C.I.A.

In 2016, the duo have already released ‘Found A Reason Why’ a collaboration with FD which appeared on their own CIA Records imprint. They will be returning to their second home, Goldie’s Metalheadz this year with the 'Notes of Blue EP' and on Dispatch (for a track with Nymfo) It’s also CIA’s 20th birthday this year so they have worked on a Various Artist album which will feature long time players Calibre, Break, S.P.Y., Digital & Spirit to name a few. Collaborations are also in the works with Mako, DLR, Digital & Spirit, Kaiju, Onemind to name a few, so expect a lot more from the duo over the coming months.

Daniel is the founder of Unchained Asia an events brand and label regularly pushing quality bass music around China. He was Music Director and resident DJ at Club Sector during it's first year and resident DJ at Bang Club for 2 years, pushing bass music in Shenzhen. Fast forward to 2018 we find Daniel has a new home at Oil Club, where he plays regularly and runs Bass music events further defining, developing and elevating the understanding of Bass Music in South China. Notwithstanding, Daniel tours regularly across China playing in both developed and emerging electronic music scenes. He is often invited to provide support duties for touring artists in China. He has played alongside dozens of A-list artists including the likes of Fabio, Kode 9, Addison Groove, Swindle, Zinc, Flava D, Logistics, Makoto, DJ Randall, The Prototypes, DJ SS, Stray (Ivy Lab), Goth-Trad, Madam X, Dehousy and many more.

Blood Dunza aka Lai Fai Founder of Heavy Hong Kong crew .He has been promoting Drum n' Bass and Reggae in Hong Kong for the last decade. The mission has spread all over mainland China in recent years.  Blood Dunza played at Outlook Festival in Croatia 2012 , Toured Germany , Belgium, Japan, Thailand , Vietnam , Singapore , Philippines , Cambodia , India and all over China .Featured on Red Bull UK and Dubspot and listed as "One of Hong Kong Top Night" on CNNGo, Blood Dunza has shared the decks with many heavy weights.  

Whilst now a 140, Dubstep and Drum & Bass producer based in Hong Kong, Jarr is originally from Sydney where he helped foster the DnB movement in the early 00's through his crew's radio show Deep Beatz (BondiFM) and numerous Bass events. Jarr's first major release, "Play the Tape", with respected underground UK label Deep Heads became an overnight success and was followed by his dub- infused tune "Whiteboy" which lead the charge on Soul Deep Recordings' 9th Unsung Heroes compilation. Tracks such as Jazzman and Django, from his latest EP on Brighton’s SmallPrint Recordings, provide a perfect example of the deep and unique atmospheric stylings wired throughout his productions. Having just released his Dark Jazz EP on Bristol-based 140 Ninja look out for his forthcoming half-time and footwork releases on on Italy’s ground- breaking imprint - The Dreamers.

Love bass music? So does Just Bee, the local’s favorite DJ blowing up in Hong Kong and Southern China’s underground bass music scene! Referred to as “the most in demand DJ in Bass music,” she has received unconditional support from almost all crews and now forms a core part of Unchained crew. Having already played alongside such recognized names such as dBridge, Fabio, Fre4knc, DLR, Homemade Weapons, Stray (Ivy Lab) and Makoto, she has also toured several times across Asia including China, Singapore and Korea. Known for her rolling basslines and funky bass, yet techy, style - Just Bee is now ready to conquer Asia.

Nick Gavin AKA Immuno, hails from New Zealand - one of the world’s most prolific DnB scenes. When Nick dove into DJing at an early age he found himself quickly climbing the ranks. It wasn’t long before he was hitting the making as a finalist in New Zealand DJ competitions and being invited to play regularly to support A-list atists such as Concord Dawn, Dose, Teknik and Need For Mirrors. In 2014 he made the move to Hong Kong. For the past several years he has truly made waves. He has featured on the line up of numerous Bass and DNB events including King of Kowloon (Heavy HK), the Great Wall Festival, Hummingbird, Secret island Party and Drum’n’Bassment to name a few. Now a core member of the Unchained crew he is looking forward to pushing the D’n’B scene throughout China! Known for his high energy mixing, 3 deck sets and artfully curated half-time and broad spectrum Drum and Bass selections, lets be clear... Immuno is an experienced dance floor aficionado - guaranteed to please.

As a big fan of Drum & Bass and accumulating listening experience for years, Eligo Kontent, who was born in Shenzhen, had met Unchained crew in 2017 and found a place to express his personal feelings about Drum & Bass. Influenced by different kinds of bass music and hunting new sounds from many genres recently, he would love to try blending those things together and deliver them to the dance floor.

R-Vee is a UK-born independent MC, a product of the drum n bass golden era at the turn of the millennium. Known for his stamina, melody and flow along with an ability to host extra-long sets while keeping the crowd entertained, he has performed at major events and festivals across the globe. Always in the know that the duty of the MC is to compliment the music, a fact sometimes overlooked by MC’s in the scene today.  R-Vee has gained recognition and been rewarded by being booked to perform with an endless list of A-list artists from all major record labels in the industry, throughout a career which has included residencies in London, Dubai, Prague, Barcelona, Ibiza and Hong Kong.

Video artist, Niv, delivers visuals that get you feeling all sorts of things. Her style is vibrant, playful, and experimental, creating an atmosphere that keeps you intrigued and dancing.

She’s fresh talent, but has already supported top acts including DJ SS, Mijk van Dijk, Josef K, Prototypes, Opuswerk, Madam X and Zutzut.Now based in Shenzhen, Niv has previously found home in Sydney, New Delhi and San Francisco. No matter where, she is blessed to find muses that inspire and support her.

Having found The Ecstatic Bass crew in Macau with South China’s Dubstep pioneer N1D, with his musical background and contributions to the scene since his early age, this rudebwoy from Macau has been pushing different kind of Bass-driven music and Sound System Culture with his crew from one city to another. BudBall’s sets has gained trust across the scenes by countless shows in Hong Kong, China and different Asian cities with main man in the game including Coki, Loefah, Swindle, Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Brother Culture, Flava D, Bok Bok, Doc Scott, Stray etc. Regularly making appearances at festivals and major club nights, being a fixed icon in the bass music community with his sounds and high energy mixing style. His Ecstatic Bass nights with guests like Joe Nice, Goth-Trad, Madam X, Sinjin Hawke & Zora Jones has constantly brewing the local scene, providing a different club night experience for the youth. His selections switching at ease from Reggae, Dub, UK Bass to Grime, Garage, Dubstep, Juke and Footwork to Jungle. Heavyweight could be the way to describe the sets he delivers, expect dubplates & unreleased materials from Ecstatic Bass Macau producers and his selections of deadly weapons for the dancefloor.

Katie Cooper originates from Manchester, United Kingdom and comes from a background of thriving bass, grime, dubstep and garage music. She's had a passion for bass music from as young as 12 and got her first technic turntables at 16. Moving to China 2 years ago was the perfect chance for her to share her knowledge and passion with this side of the world. 

Mengzy may be new to the scene but brings a lifelong passion and formal music education with her. A grade 8 pianist with an MA in music, her instincts and diverse selections allow for distinctive sets verge on collage. Mengzy is also a radio talent, hosting a weekly interview show (Asia Sound System) on RTHK Radio3, as well as a monthly music education show (Musicoology) on HKCR.

Changa, core member of 15grams from Hong Kong, has turned from a bass player to a DJ who enjoys filling the space with low-frequency vibrations -  mostly a mix of 140 dubwise/dubstep tunes.
